Voyager: Virtual IOP for Arizona
Groups four evenings a week and individual sessions around them, from your own house, for six to twelve months. Whether it is the right level of care is decided by a clinical assessment.
Available to adults living in Arizona. Telehealth licensure follows the patient, not the clinician, so we cannot enroll you from out of state.

How it works
Where Virtual Intensive Outpatient Fits
It is the end of the program rather than the beginning, and it only works because of everything that came before it.
- 1
A clinical assessment first
Everybody is assessed, and admissions helps you find the right level either way.
- 2
Groups in the evening
Monday to Friday, 5:00 to 8:00 pm by video, so work and family stay possible.
- 3
Individual sessions around them
Through the week, and at weekends where that is what it takes.
- 4
Six to twelve months
Longer than the in-person continuum, because you are applying it to the life you already have.
What the virtual program includes
- Group sessions by video, Monday to Friday, 5:00 to 8:00 pm
- Individual sessions through the week, including weekends where needed
- Ten hours a week at IOP level, four to ten at outpatient
- Six to twelve months, not a short course
- Case management, accountability and recovery planning
- A route straight back to a higher level of care if you need one

Three Things Worth Knowing About Online IOP
Most sites selling virtual treatment do not lead with the limits. These are the ones that will actually affect you.
Arizona only, and that one is absolute
- Telehealth licensure follows the patient, not the clinician
- If you live outside Arizona we cannot enroll you, and admissions will say so on the first call
- Out of state and want treatment? Come to us in person instead
A level of care, decided by assessment
- Suitable stepping down from residential, and suitable as a starting point
- What decides it is a clinical assessment rather than what you would prefer
- If you need detox or residential first, we coordinate that before you start
Open to adult men and women
- Voyager is the one level of care here that is not men only
- Everything else we run, residential through outpatient, is a men’s program
- Anywhere in Arizona, living at home, around work and family

- What is Voyager?
- Voyager is the name of our virtual program. It runs at two levels, intensive outpatient at around ten hours a week and outpatient at four to ten, by video, for adults anywhere in Arizona. It uses the same NeuroFaith™ model as the in-person program.
- Do I have to finish treatment with you first?
- No. Voyager takes people stepping down from residential or in-person treatment, people who cannot enter residential because of work, school or family, and people who do not need that level of care but need more than ordinary outpatient. Which of those you are is decided by a clinical assessment rather than by preference.
- Is it men only?
- No. Voyager is open to adult men and women across Arizona, and it is the exception here rather than the rule: every other level of care we run, from residential through outpatient, is a men’s program.
- How long does it run, and when are the groups?
- Six to twelve months, which is considerably longer than the ninety days the in-person continuum runs. Groups are Monday to Friday between 5:00 and 8:00 pm so that work and family stay possible, and individual sessions are scheduled through the week, including weekends where that is what it takes.
- Do I have to live in Arizona?
- Yes, and there is no flexibility in it. Telehealth licensure follows the patient rather than the clinician, so we can only treat somebody physically in Arizona. If you are out of state, coming to us in person is the route that exists.
- What does it treat?
- Substance use and alcohol addiction, trauma and PTSD, mood disorders including anxiety and depression, grief and loss, family and relationship difficulties, and co-occurring diagnoses. Whether it is the right setting for any of those is what the assessment is for.
- What about drug testing?
- Where your insurer requires it. It is set by the plan rather than by us, and admissions will tell you what yours asks for when they verify your benefits.
- What if I need more than this?
- Then we say so before you start rather than after. If the assessment shows you need detox, residential or another level of care, Holdfast coordinates a safe referral first, or connects you with a provider better suited than we are.
