What We Treat
Nine of them, and most men arrive with more than one. The substance and the thing driving it are treated at the same time, by the same team, on one plan.
- Licensed for dual diagnosis, so the mental health is not postponed
- Detox arranged elsewhere first when you need it, and we will call them
- Around ninety days, stepping down rather than ending at twenty-eight
- EMDR and trauma-focused therapy running through all of it

The list
Substances and Conditions
Each one has its own page, because what the first month looks like genuinely differs.
Alcohol
The substance in one call out of five here, and the one men are most likely to have been managing successfully for years before anything visible broke.
AlcoholHeroin and Opioids
Painkillers, prescription or otherwise. Many men here started with something a doctor wrote down and have spent years since trying to get back off it.
Heroin and OpioidsFentanyl
The drug that changed what relapse costs. Men arrive having survived something that killed people they knew.
FentanylMethamphetamine
The second most common substance on these calls after alcohol, and the one where the psychiatric picture needs the most patience.
MethamphetamineCocaine
Often the substance that is easiest to keep hidden longest, which is exactly what makes the arrival so late.
CocaineBenzodiazepines
Usually prescribed, usually for anxiety, and one of the few things on this list that is genuinely dangerous to stop on your own.
BenzodiazepinesPrescription Drugs
It started with something a doctor wrote down, which is why it takes most men so long to call it a problem.
Prescription DrugsMethadone and Suboxone
For men on methadone or Suboxone who did what they were told, got stable, and now find the thing that saved them has become the thing they are stuck in.
Methadone and SuboxoneMarijuana
Rarely the only thing, and rarely the thing a man calls about first. It shows up in one call in twenty-five here, usually next to drinking.
MarijuanaKratom & 7-OH
Sold as a supplement, bought off a gas station counter, and considerably harder to stop than most people are told before they start.
Kratom & 7-OHDual Diagnosis
Treating the addiction and the thing driving it separately, by different people, in different buildings, is how most men here got to a third attempt.
Dual DiagnosisDepression
For a lot of men the drinking and the flatness underneath it arrived together, and treating one without the other is why the last attempt did not hold.
DepressionAnxiety
Alcohol is an excellent short-term treatment for anxiety, which is the entire problem and the reason stopping makes it worse before it makes it better.
AnxietyTrauma & PTSD
The working assumption here is that the substance was the solution to something. Deal with that and the rest has somewhere to go.
Trauma & PTSD
Nobody Arrives With Only One Thing
Alcohol and cocaine. Opioids and benzodiazepines. Meth and a psychiatric picture nobody has looked at properly. Treating those in sequence, by different people, is how most men here got to a third attempt.
Not a detox
We do not manage withdrawal, and we say so on the first call rather than after you arrive. Admissions finds a detox, speaks to them on your behalf and collects you once you are medically cleared.

- What if I use more than one thing?
- That is the normal case rather than a complication, and it is most of why treatment here runs around ninety days. One assessment, one plan and one clinical team covering all of it.
- Do you handle the mental health side too?
- Yes. We are licensed for dual diagnosis, so PTSD, anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder are treated at the same time as the substance use by the same team. Men are also admitted for mental health with no substance use at all.
- Do you detox people?
- No, and we will say so on the first call rather than after you arrive. If you need to withdraw somewhere medical first, admissions will find it, speak to them on your behalf and collect you once you are cleared. See how detox works here.
- What if my drug is not on this list?
- Call anyway. The list covers what comes up most, not what we are limited to, and the assessment is interested in the whole picture rather than a category.

I was hesitant on coming to this facility, but I'm very glad I did. It definitely enforces the guidelines for building a structured life while having some freedom to still feel like a person. The camaraderie and brothers you make here helped with my recovery exponentially. The staff and therapists at Holdfast take your issues and needs to heart and assist to the best of their abilities.
Alec ReddingVerified Google reviewHoldfast was instrumental in getting my loved one on the road to recovery. Very thankful for the faith based approach while also applying expertise in the field of addiction and recovery. A wonderful ratio of providers to patients for one on one therapy and support. My loved one left after completing a 90 day program with a plan, community and a sponsor. A new lease on life! Our biggest thanks to Holdfast and prayers for the success of your future clients.
Dana KaupieVerified Google reviewHoldFast is a place where God restored me from the inside out. It’s more than a recovery program, it’s a Christ-centered brotherhood that helped me rebuild my life on solid ground. Through prayer, Scripture, and real accountability, I learned how to cling to God in every season and rediscovered my identity in Christ building a life of sobriety. I leave HoldFast renewed, anchored, and grateful for the grace and strength I found here, taking it one day at a time.
Scott ThibodauxVerified Google reviewCombination of Neuro Faith' Therapist, Christian based teachings. Listening and sharing each clients experiences and thoughts about we were being taught in group meetings. Also encouraged to go to AA meetings, Church and Bible Study. I haven't sobriety for 96 Days straight since i was 15. Daily prayer and meditation combined with the Hold Fast App daily reflection schedule allowed me to stay focused on my goals of God and sobriety. I knew no one in Prescott when I moved here, now I have a brotherhood and Fellowship of Men that 100% i can count on. I am currently on Step 11 and plan on Sponsoring others as well as continuing in volunteering for others needs and bringing others to sobriety. I have a beautiful new life now that. Hold Fast brought me back ty rean honest self. Thank you Staff. I am now closer with my family.

Cryss Cross CurryVerified Google reviewUnlike no other. Holdfast has been a life saving Christian based spirit filled residential treatment center based on the 12 steps. Instead of dreading the classes and meetings I look forward to all of it. The brotherhood of men here is very strong and I’m healing Godspeed.
