- What is a partial hospitalization program?
- A partial hospitalization program, or PHP, is the most intensive treatment you can receive without living at the treatment facility. At Holdfast that means a full clinical day, Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 3:30pm, while living at our sober living house. The team drives you in each morning and brings you back each evening.
- How is PHP different from inpatient or residential treatment?
- Honestly, less than you would expect. PHP rehab and inpatient rehab are closer than the names suggest: side by side, inpatient and PHP with housing are virtually the same level of care, and the real difference is that you do not sleep in the building where you do therapy. What residential adds is clinical staff on site overnight. Residential treatment is delivered at AnchorPoint, our brother program.
- What is the difference between PHP and IOP?
- Hours, mostly. In a PHP vs IOP comparison the clinical content is much the same and the commitment is not: PHP is a full day, five days a week; IOP is mornings, either five days or three. Most men do about thirty days of PHP and then step down to IOP for another thirty, with the same team and the same housing throughout. The step down is the point at which working again becomes realistic.
- Can I work during a partial hospitalization program?
- Realistically, no. A treatment day runs to half past three and the work is the point. Men who need to keep working usually start in IOP on the reduced schedule, and admissions will be straight with you about whether that is enough for where you are.
- Where do I live during PHP?
- At our own sober living house, and it is included rather than arranged separately. We are a treatment center that provides housing, not a sober living that arranges treatment, and the distinction matters when something goes wrong at two in the morning.
- Do I have to do residential first?
- No. Plenty of men enter at PHP directly, particularly after a detox or a residential stay at another facility. Other treatment centers refer their own graduates here for exactly this. A short clinical conversation settles the right level of care.
- How long does PHP last?
- About thirty days for most men, inside a sixty to ninety day continuum. Men step down when the clinical picture says they are ready, and longer stays are available and often the right call.
- Does insurance cover partial hospitalization?
- Most major carriers cover PHP, and we work with most major carriers at this level, including UnitedHealthcare and TRICARE. Admissions runs the verification with your carrier and comes back with what your plan covers before anyone commits.
Who starts at PHP
Most Men Here Have Already Tried Something Else
Other treatment centers refer their own graduates to this program, which tells you most of what you need to know about who it is for.
Finishing residential somewhere else
- Other treatment centers refer their graduates here for PHP
- No repeat of the assessment you just did
- Admissions coordinates directly with your current facility
Coming off a detox
- Medically clear but nowhere near ready to go home
- Admissions places and collects you from the detox
- PHP is usually the right first stop
Did a 28-day and it did not hold
- A common story for men arriving here
- A month of treatment, then straight back to the same room
- The housing is the part that was missing
Stepping down from our own residential
- The same clinical team, a different schedule
- No transfer, no new intake, no starting over
- The men you started with are still in the room

Strength and recoveryThe Resilience LabA fitness room and a recovery room, run by Bobby Figueroa, who spent twenty years in the US Army, much of it in Special Forces. Strength training, plus cold plunge, saunas, red light and vibration. AnchorPoint clients are brought here to use it.

Outdoors, most daysAdventure therapyHikes, canyons and lake days across northern Arizona. This is an open program, not a locked facility, and the outdoors is in the schedule rather than offered as a reward at the end of it.

I was hesitant on coming to this facility, but I'm very glad I did. It definitely enforces the guidelines for building a structured life while having some freedom to still feel like a person. The camaraderie and brothers you make here helped with my recovery exponentially. The staff and therapists at Holdfast take your issues and needs to heart and assist to the best of their abilities.
Alec ReddingVerified Google reviewHoldfast was instrumental in getting my loved one on the road to recovery. Very thankful for the faith based approach while also applying expertise in the field of addiction and recovery. A wonderful ratio of providers to patients for one on one therapy and support. My loved one left after completing a 90 day program with a plan, community and a sponsor. A new lease on life! Our biggest thanks to Holdfast and prayers for the success of your future clients.
Dana KaupieVerified Google reviewHoldFast is a place where God restored me from the inside out. It’s more than a recovery program, it’s a Christ-centered brotherhood that helped me rebuild my life on solid ground. Through prayer, Scripture, and real accountability, I learned how to cling to God in every season and rediscovered my identity in Christ building a life of sobriety. I leave HoldFast renewed, anchored, and grateful for the grace and strength I found here, taking it one day at a time.
Scott ThibodauxVerified Google reviewCombination of Neuro Faith' Therapist, Christian based teachings. Listening and sharing each clients experiences and thoughts about we were being taught in group meetings. Also encouraged to go to AA meetings, Church and Bible Study. I haven't sobriety for 96 Days straight since i was 15. Daily prayer and meditation combined with the Hold Fast App daily reflection schedule allowed me to stay focused on my goals of God and sobriety. I knew no one in Prescott when I moved here, now I have a brotherhood and Fellowship of Men that 100% i can count on. I am currently on Step 11 and plan on Sponsoring others as well as continuing in volunteering for others needs and bringing others to sobriety. I have a beautiful new life now that. Hold Fast brought me back ty rean honest self. Thank you Staff. I am now closer with my family.
Lui RodriguezVerified Google reviewHoldFast Recovery is "hands down" the best treatment center I have ever been to. Between the staff and brotherhood, there is genuinely something special about this place. If you're trying to find renewed faith and become the best version of yourself, you've come to the right spot. Be prepared to put in the work!
Cryss Cross CurryVerified Google reviewUnlike no other. Holdfast has been a life saving Christian based spirit filled residential treatment center based on the 12 steps. Instead of dreading the classes and meetings I look forward to all of it. The brotherhood of men here is very strong and I’m healing Godspeed.
