The Resilience Lab
Two rooms at Holdfast, run by a man who spent twenty years in the US Army. Somewhere to get physically capable again, and to learn what recovery feels like when you go looking for it on purpose.
- A fitness room for strength, calisthenics and movement
- A recovery room: cold plunge, infrared and dry sauna, red light, vibration
- Led by Bobby Figueroa, Director of Resilience, twenty years US Army
- Alongside the clinical and spiritual work, never instead of it

What is in it
A Recovery Gym, in Two Rooms
One for building something, one for learning how to let the body settle. Men use both.

The Fitness Room
Strength training, calisthenics and movement. The emphasis is on technique, sensible exercise selection, warm-ups and cool-downs, and programs simple enough that a man keeps running them after he leaves.

The Recovery Room
Red-light therapy, vibration plates, a cold plunge, an infrared sauna and a dry sauna. Somewhere to learn how your own body responds to stress and to recovery, and to build a routine around it.
What Twenty Years in Special Forces Taught Him
- Twenty years in the US Army, much of it in Special Forces
- Special Forces invests heavily in strength coaches, physical therapists, nutrition and human performance, because losing an experienced soldier means losing years of training and leadership
- That world went out to the NCAA, the NHL and the NFL to learn how to keep people healthy and available
- The lesson he took: build resilience before it is needed, rather than waiting for the injury or the burnout
“We should build resilience before it is needed.”
Bobby Figueroa, Director of Resilience

Strength Training Men Keep Doing After They Leave
Not a program for an elite athlete. Skills simple enough to still be running them in ten years.
One of the plainest responsibilities a man has is being capable of protecting and providing for the people around him. Few things build confidence like watching yourself get stronger on purpose.
Call (928) 378-3599Proper lifting technique, and exercise selection that is safe and has a reason behind it
Warm-ups, recovery between sessions and cool-downs, taught as part of the work rather than skipped
Programs simple enough to keep using for life, rather than anything built for an elite athlete
Regular strength training is associated with improved muscular strength and bone health, better physical function and metabolic health, and positive effects on mood and well-being
The recovery room
Sauna, Cold Plunge, Red Light and Vibration
What the research actually says, stated the way Bobby states it rather than the way a supplement advert would.
Heat and cold exposure have been studied for their effects on cardiovascular function, circulation, perceived recovery, mood and stress response
Sauna use in particular has been associated in observational research with several positive cardiovascular and health outcomes
Cold exposure can influence the body’s nervous, metabolic and vascular responses, and may help some individuals with perceived recovery and alertness
None of it is intended to replace medical or clinical treatment, and none of it is a fix for anybody
The larger point of the recovery room is not that a sauna or a cold plunge fixes anybody. It is that recovery is something a man can go after deliberately, and that looking after the body is part of living a decent life.

What It Actually Looks Like
Holdfast's own photography. Real coaching, real equipment, no stock.
One Building, Two Programs
The Lab is physically at Holdfast, and men in residential treatment at AnchorPoint are brought here to use it. Two separate programs, two licenses, one facility that made more sense to build once than twice.
About AnchorPointThe line he wants carried
“With God, I can do this.”
Recovery involves the whole person: physical health, mental health, relationships, faith, sleep and the habits of an ordinary day. The Lab is where some of that gets practised somewhere you can feel it.

- What is the Resilience Lab?
- Two rooms at Holdfast: a fitness room for strength training and movement, and a recovery room with red-light therapy, vibration plates, a cold plunge, an infrared sauna and a dry sauna. It is run by Bobby Figueroa, Director of Resilience, who spent twenty years in the US Army, much of it in Special Forces.
- Is this instead of therapy?
- No, and Bobby is firm about that. The Lab is not intended to compete with or replace the clinical, counseling or spiritual work. It complements them. Recovery involves the whole person, and physical health, sleep and daily habits all affect whether a man can live well. The therapies page covers the clinical side.
- Do the sauna and cold plunge treat addiction?
- No, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling something. Heat and cold exposure have been studied for effects on circulation, perceived recovery, mood and stress response, and sauna use has been associated in observational research with positive cardiovascular outcomes. That is a different sentence from treating a substance use disorder, and the difference matters. The point of the recovery room is teaching men that recovery is something you can pursue on purpose.
- Do I need to be fit already?
- No. Men arrive in every condition, including straight out of detox. The programs are built to be simple, safe and sustainable rather than impressive, and the aim is skills you keep rather than a number you hit while you are here.
- Can AnchorPoint clients use it?
- Yes. The Lab is physically at Holdfast and men from AnchorPoint are brought here to use it. Two separate programs, one facility that made sense to build once.
- What happens to it when I leave?
- That is the point of teaching it the way he does. The programs, the technique and the recovery habits are meant to go home with you, which is also what aftercare is built around.

I was hesitant on coming to this facility, but I'm very glad I did. It definitely enforces the guidelines for building a structured life while having some freedom to still feel like a person. The camaraderie and brothers you make here helped with my recovery exponentially. The staff and therapists at Holdfast take your issues and needs to heart and assist to the best of their abilities.
Alec ReddingVerified Google reviewHoldfast was instrumental in getting my loved one on the road to recovery. Very thankful for the faith based approach while also applying expertise in the field of addiction and recovery. A wonderful ratio of providers to patients for one on one therapy and support. My loved one left after completing a 90 day program with a plan, community and a sponsor. A new lease on life! Our biggest thanks to Holdfast and prayers for the success of your future clients.
Dana KaupieVerified Google reviewHoldFast is a place where God restored me from the inside out. It’s more than a recovery program, it’s a Christ-centered brotherhood that helped me rebuild my life on solid ground. Through prayer, Scripture, and real accountability, I learned how to cling to God in every season and rediscovered my identity in Christ building a life of sobriety. I leave HoldFast renewed, anchored, and grateful for the grace and strength I found here, taking it one day at a time.
Scott ThibodauxVerified Google reviewCombination of Neuro Faith' Therapist, Christian based teachings. Listening and sharing each clients experiences and thoughts about we were being taught in group meetings. Also encouraged to go to AA meetings, Church and Bible Study. I haven't sobriety for 96 Days straight since i was 15. Daily prayer and meditation combined with the Hold Fast App daily reflection schedule allowed me to stay focused on my goals of God and sobriety. I knew no one in Prescott when I moved here, now I have a brotherhood and Fellowship of Men that 100% i can count on. I am currently on Step 11 and plan on Sponsoring others as well as continuing in volunteering for others needs and bringing others to sobriety. I have a beautiful new life now that. Hold Fast brought me back ty rean honest self. Thank you Staff. I am now closer with my family.
Lui RodriguezVerified Google reviewHoldFast Recovery is "hands down" the best treatment center I have ever been to. Between the staff and brotherhood, there is genuinely something special about this place. If you're trying to find renewed faith and become the best version of yourself, you've come to the right spot. Be prepared to put in the work!
Cryss Cross CurryVerified Google reviewUnlike no other. Holdfast has been a life saving Christian based spirit filled residential treatment center based on the 12 steps. Instead of dreading the classes and meetings I look forward to all of it. The brotherhood of men here is very strong and I’m healing Godspeed.
