Elliot Shine grew up in Bakersfield, California, in a large, blended family, and from an early age felt drawn toward rebellion and risk. By fifteen he was using opiates, benzodiazepines, and methamphetamine, a lifestyle that led to repeated arrests, loss, and years of addiction. The death of his first love at nineteen and, later, the tragic motorcycle death of his brother intensified his spiral into heroin use and multiple overdoses. After appearing on the television show Intervention and cycling through numerous treatment programs, Elliot reached a crossroads—continue the cycle of destruction or surrender. Choosing life, he entered recovery, found genuine faith through a men’s Bible study called Lowly Ministries at Restoration Church, and experienced a profound encounter with God. Today, Elliot lives in sustained sobriety and devotes himself with compassion and courage to helping others find the same freedom. His story is one of redemption, resilience, and faith, and Holdfast Recovery counts itself profoundly blessed to have him as part of its mission and family.
