How to Overcome Addiction as a Christian

Christian recovery is not a random combination of chapel services and a clinical schedule. It means:

• Processing shame through the lens of grace rather than purely through cognitive reframing.
• Making sense of suffering not just as a symptom to manage but as something that can be placed inside a larger story.
• Accountability that is grounded not just in personal goals or peer pressure but in a relationship with God and a community of men who take that relationship seriously.

Studies on faith-based intervention have found that people in faith-integrated programs become more religious over time. This change is part of a new post-treatment experience [3]. When faith deepens during recovery, the odds of staying sober go up.
