First Responder Rehabilitation in Arizona
At Holdfast Recovery, our rehab programs for first responders help men on the front lines rebuild strength, purpose, and hope through trauma-informed care, accountability, and Christ-centered guidance.
First Responders' Addiction Treatment
First responders face unique pressures that can increase the risk of substance use and addiction. Long shifts, repeated exposure to trauma, high-stakes decision-making, and a culture that often discourages asking for help can make it difficult to cope in healthy ways.
Our first responders’ addiction treatment program for men is designed to meet these challenges with trauma-informed, evidence-based care in a confidential and supportive environment. We understand the job and the strength it takes to seek help.
Addiction Challenges Faced by Police Officers
Police officers regularly encounter violence, loss, and critical incidents while being expected to remain calm and in control at all times. Chronic stress, hypervigilance, and unprocessed trauma can contribute to substance use as a way to manage emotional pain, sleep disturbances, or anxiety.
More than 10% of metropolitan police officers use alcohol at “at-risk” levels. These officers also have a high rate of drug addiction due to easy access from drug dealer busts and overdose calls. Our program helps officers address the underlying trauma behind addiction, build healthier coping strategies, and regain balance without judgment or stigma.
Addiction Challenges Faced by Firefighters
Firefighters are exposed to repeated emergencies, medical trauma, and life-threatening situations, often while working long and physically demanding shifts. The cumulative impact of these experiences can lead to burnout, emotional exhaustion, and increased reliance on alcohol or other substances to decompress.
Firefighters have one of the highest rates of developing an addiction to prescription pills and alcohol due to these intense conditions. Our treatment approach supports firefighters in processing trauma, restoring physical and emotional resilience.
Addiction Challenges Faced by EMTs and Paramedics
EMTs and paramedics frequently face intense emotional stress, witnessing medical crises, loss of life, and high-pressure situations with little time to recover between calls. Irregular schedules and sleep disruption can further complicate mental health and increase vulnerability to substance use.
Our program provides targeted support to help EMTs and paramedics manage trauma, regulate stress, and build a strong foundation for long-term recovery while honoring the vital role they play in their communities.
Confidential and Culturally Competent Care
Recover on your terms in a safe, private, and understanding environment built for men in high-pressure roles.
Effective Rehab Programs for First Responders
Partial Hospitalization Program for First Responders
Our PHP for first responders offers a high level of daily support while allowing men to remain connected to their families and community. Clients attend treatment five days a week for around six hours per day, engaging in individual therapy, group counseling, trauma work, and skill-building sessions.
Intensive Outpatient Rehab for First Responders
Clients participate in therapy sessions, group counseling, and recovery-focused activities several times per week. Our IOP is a 2-phase approach that adapts to your level of needs. It’s designed to help first responders develop healthy coping skills, process trauma, and build a strong foundation for long-term sobriety while staying engaged with work and family.
Sober Living for First Responders
Our sober living homes in the Prescott area provide a safe, structured place to continue recovery while building independence. These homes are built for men and foster a recovery-focused, Christ-centered community rooted in accountability, brotherhood, and service. Clients continue developing life skills, spiritual discipline, and healthy routines.
Proven Treatment Methods at Holdfast Recovery
At Holdfast Recovery, our treatment approach is built to meet the real-world needs of first responders. Every service is designed to address not only substance use, but also the stress, trauma, and pressures that come with serving others.
Evidence-Based Therapies
Evidence-based therapies such as CBT and DBT can help first responders understand the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
These provide practical tools to manage stress, regulate emotions, reduce triggers, and build healthier coping skills that support recovery and long-term performance in high-pressure environments.
Medication-Assisted Treatment
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) may be incorporated when clinically appropriate to support recovery from substance use disorders.
MAT is carefully managed by medical professionals and used alongside therapy and counseling, helping reduce cravings, stabilize brain chemistry, and support long-term recovery while prioritizing safety, discretion, and individual needs.
Case Management Services
Our case management services provide structure and continuity throughout treatment and beyond.
Case managers assist with treatment planning, care coordination, aftercare resources, and reintegration into daily life. For first responders, this support helps bridge the gap between treatment and real-world responsibilities, ensuring no one has to navigate recovery alone.
PTSD and Trauma Treatment for First Responders
Our trauma-informed programs are designed for men in law enforcement, firefighting, and emergency medical services, addressing both the emotional and relational impact of their work.
Trauma-Informed CBT
TF-CBT helps first responders identify and reframe unhelpful thought patterns that contribute to stress, anxiety, or substance use. By focusing on coping strategies and emotional regulation, this approach equips men with practical tools to manage triggers and high-pressure situations.
EMDR
EMDR is a highly effective, evidence-based therapy for processing traumatic memories. For first responders, EMDR can reduce the emotional intensity of critical incidents, improve resilience, and support recovery from PTSD and related stress disorders.
Attachment-Based Family Therapy
This therapy focuses on repairing and strengthening family relationships impacted by trauma and the demands of first responder work. It fosters healthy communication, trust, and emotional support, helping men rebuild meaningful connections at home.
Equine-Assisted Therapy
Equine-assisted therapy uses interactions with horses to build awareness, emotional regulation, and trust. First responders often benefit from this experiential approach, which encourages mindfulness, self-reflection, and stress reduction in a safe, supportive environment.
Polyvagal Informed Therapy
Based on the polyvagal theory, this approach helps first responders regulate their nervous system and respond to stress with greater calm and flexibility. It supports trauma recovery by teaching techniques to manage hyperarousal, anxiety, and emotional reactivity.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
IFS helps individuals explore the different “parts” of themselves, including those shaped by trauma. First responders learn to identify internal conflicts, heal past wounds, and develop self-compassion, creating a stronger foundation for long-term emotional resilience.

Unlike no other. Holdfast has been a life saving Christian based spirit filled residential treatment center based on the 12 steps. Instead of dreading the classes and meetings I look forward to all of it. The brotherhood of men here is very strong and I’m healing Godspeed.

I highly recommend Holdfast Recovery. My life fell apart faster than a bridge collapse, I lost everything. Through, this program I gained everything. It’s not instantaneous, it’s a lifestyle, much like how living in addiction is a lifestyle.
Things didn’t fall apart overnight (although it may have seemed like it) they won’t come back together overnight.
This was a Godsend in my life, and finding this facility was only through the work of God.
There is something happening at Holdfast that has changed my course, and has allowed me to slowly regain contact with my daughter.
The staff is amazing, and this was the right place for me.
I cannot express the life change I’ve gained enough.
